Bronx native Joseph Mc Manus will be leading tours of some of the most interesting species of birds this side of Canada. Watching and trekking take place Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Van Cortlandt Park on August 30. Meet at the Nature Center adjacent to the Van Cortlandt Mansion. Bring out your inner avian.

On the latest birding expedition, Ed (on the right) saw a life bird—a rose-breasted Grosbeak. The other 26 birds observed included a: Canada goose, wood duck, mallard, great blue heron, green heron, rock pigeon, chimney swift, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, eastern kingbird, blue jay, American crow, barn swallow, black capped  chickadee, American robin, gray catbird, northern cardinal, European starling, rose-breasted grosbeak, red-winged blackbird, common grackle, Baltimore oriole, house finch, American goldfinch, and a house sparrow.
