Yes continues its partnership with Community Board 8 and local merchants to underwrite an annual Poetry Slam by teenagers.

A separate award for the  best  Civics poem—an iPad Mini—is part of our efforts to foster awareness among our youth. Young people pour their hearts out about their lives growing up in the Bronx. Poet judges rate their performances, while the audience hoots, hollers, cries, and slams to participate. Eric “Advocate of Wordz” Maldonado serves as master of ceremony.

BronxNet highlights from the Youth Poetry Slam sponsored by Community Board 8 and Yes the Bronx, judged by a cohort of equals led by “Special K” of Treacherous Three.
